Serenity by the Sea: An Adult Yoga & Mindfulness Class at Harkness State Park
We invite you to nestle into the present moment, as we utilize the natural splendors of Harkness State Park as anchors of awareness. This two-part outdoor adult yoga and mindfulness experience will begin with a 60 minute All-levels Vinyasa yoga class, which will include a brief grounding meditation, followed by a dynamic flow of standing, seated, and supine postures designed to cultivate both joy and relaxation. As participants rest in Savasana, they will be guided through a loving-kindness meditation. During the second portion of the class, participants will embark on a Mindful Bird Walk across the grounds of Harkness Memorial State Park. As we walk through the park, we will intentionally cast our flashlights of attention upon the sounds and sights of local birds. The entire experience will be facilitated by Peaceful Pause owner, Kate Cygler. Kate is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as a Registered 200 Hr Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), and Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT). Kate has spent many blissful moments at Harkness and is grateful for the opportunity to practice in such a magnificent outdoor space.
In an effort to keep everyone safe during this ongoing pandemic period, we will be complying with CDC recommendations regarding outdoor recreational classes. Registration is required and participant numbers will be limited to 15. To honor the needs of all participants, when you arrive, please place your yoga mats/blankets at least 6 feet apart and maintain this distance throughout our time together. (This does not apply for members of the same household.) It is not mandatory to wear a mask while on your mat/blanket. To reduce the risk of germ transmission, we will not be offering shared props, so please bring your own yoga mat, towel, and any other supplemental equipment you might enjoy (e.g. straps, blocks, cushion). Please stay home if you are experiencing any flu like symptoms or live with someone currently diagnosed with Covid-19.
All proceeds will support the efforts of Friends of Harkness, Inc, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the Harkness mansion and historic gardens.
Cost: $15 donation to Friends of Harkness, Inc. collected at the time of registration.
